Taking tonal inspiration from works of Daisuke Yokota and Doan Ly, Bloom Within Slumber and Wake takes cues from the vibrant imagination of colour in the early moments of wake — the careful transition between darkness to light, and an exploration of what it means to find colour and texture even in the uncertainty.
This is the letter from a spontaneous yet calculated rhythm in the process of uncovering; a consistency, a patience and a revering wonder that makes for good company in the mystery.
The world fell into a slow slumber over the pandemic and we find ourselves dancing within a transition of an era both together and apart. In so many ways, we create to overcome and innovate out of this string of seasons, wishing in the same moment for some things to return back to what it was. Yet, the idea of bloom tells a different story.
Bloom is a celebration of life regardless of what was, and hope for what could be; a collision of the end and a beginning, and an opportunity for imagination, for life and for colour that makes the concept of ‘wait’ worth the while.
