The experience at Kimpton Chongli begins from the lobby bar where guests arrive to check in. Here, an indie musician serves as a Muse; her creative, curious, and adventurous spirit is expressed in an abstract, graphic style. The energy of the ski resort is brought indoors using a natural timber bar counter, leather armchairs, tartan seats, and log table tops for texture. A timber patterned floor and stucco elevations give guests a conducive space to unwind after a day on the slopes.

Descending a flight of winding stairs, guests will find a mini distillery modeled after a speakeasy bar. To evoke a sense of discovery and curiosity, a bespoke metal fascia counter was designed for the mixologist, while colour rendered plaster walls, a gridded ceiling strung with bulbs and neon lighting combine for an experimental, moody atmosphere.

Elsewhere, the resort’s specialty restaurant is inspired by the healthy, authentic cooking of Chinese celebrity Li Ziqi, who hails from the highlands of Sichuan. Natural materials are incorporated to recreate the feel of a local home kitchen, while a display of artwork and accessories on a feature table pays tribute to local artisans and craftsmen.
