New World Makati
Manila, Philippines
2014

He likes his suits well-tailored.
He is poised, refined and suave.

A crossroad for international business travellers in Makati city, New World Makati has been one of the most iconic business hotels in Manila for the last two decades.

White Jacket was commissioned to redesign and redefine the hotel's design direction to complement and enhance the new branding and identity of New World Hotels.

A dazzling blend of clean, simple modernist form with soft, curvy shapes of the furniture and sculptures.
Flanking the reception counters are two sets of three dimensional woven screens made of timber, metal and glass strips. Each counter is handcrafted with leather, adding a touch of warmth to the check in experience. Connecting the lobby to the Ballroom and The Glass House on the mezzanine floor, the sculptural and fluid form of the Grand Staircase is further enhanced by the rich, dark stained rosewood timber balustrades.
The salient feature in the lobby is the oversized seed sculptures; signify the recent changes and developments in New World Hotels. The big seed represents the long established brand and the smaller seed symbolizes the emerging new branding directions and ideas.

The Club room is welcoming with a contemporary edge. The contrast of soft fabrics, wood with rich gold coloured brass metal, brings warmth and gives character to the room. To promote the flow of natural light in the bathroom and enhance the spaciousness of the guestroom, decorative sliding glass screens are designed to replace solid wall. A luxurious corner daybed allows guests to dine, sit, relax and work depending on their mood. As the highlight of the backdrop, a modernized Chinese Ink inspired artwork speaks the contemporary language yet remaining it’s classy undertone.
